Edcamp Access History
Pioneered and championed by Karen Janowski and Mike Marrotta, EdCamp Access was founded several years ago in Boston and NJ. Here is what Karen says about starting this mission:
"I realized special educators were not well represented as participants (at Edcamps). Therefore, meeting the unique needs of students on IEPs were often overlooked. So I decided to meld the EdCamp model into a format that specifically addressed the needs of struggling learners, high-incidence to low incidence populations." The EdCampAccess team (I gathered a group of three others passionate about meeting the needs of students with special needs) discussed the best name for this type of EdCamp. All that to say, we liked EdCampAccess as the term and we hope it goes national."
So now, we bring this to NY in hopes of continuing this mission to reach all learners. Here are several pictures from past Edcamp Access events! EdCamp Access even went live at ATIA!
